Tom Fennelly commented on JBIDE-2867:
-------------------------------------
This is most certainly a major issue, one way or another!!
If we're going to insist on the user adding connections for creating the beans configs
(and I don't think we should be), then we should not allow make binding connections
until after the relevant bean creation connections have been made. At the moment,
we're create invalid configs.
I find having to make the bean creation connections totally confusing. They are telling
the editor to do something completely different to that of making a binding connection.
The act of making these connections is interpreted differently by the editor, but surely
the user will think they're basically the same thing:
1) A "bean creation connection" is telling the editor when a bean instance is to
be created i.e. which source message event to use to create the bean instance.
2) The "binding connection" is telling the editor which source event to use to
extract data from the message and use as the source data for the binding.
I think this will be totally confusing to users because from their perspective.
I'm also still not convinced that the user needs to be burdened with the task of
creating these bean creation connections (#1 above), as I outlined by email last week.
For me, this is the root of the issue. We should automate #1 and then the confusion goes
away.

Key: JBIDE-2867
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-2867
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: smooks
Reporter: Tom Fennelly
Assignee: Xue Peng
Fix For: 3.0.0.cr1
Attachments: Dart.zip, errorconnections.png, screenshot-1.jpg, smooks-config.xml,
XML.png
I took the "java-to-java" example from the Smooks v1.0.1 distro and used the
editor to generate the config for the same transformation.
I will attach the eclipse project including the invlaid Smooks config. I will also
attached the config from the java-to-java example i.e. what the editor should produce.
