EAR Project Wizard Issues

When I generate an EAR project using all the default selections with a MySQL DB, I get a
number of errors in the generated code. There are two errors that prevent the generated
application from deploying to the app server:
I had these same issue with seam 2.0 and JBoss Tools 2.1.
1. There are a bunch of statements in the components.xml file for authenticatio, but the
code is not implemented. These have to be manually removed in order to get the application
to work. Here's the components.xml file that I get after running the wizard:

If I rem out all the lines about secutiry and then touch up the security:indentity element
a bit then the errors go away.
2. When I generate an EAR using all the defaults with MySQL DB my application will not
deploy due to a duplicate PhaseListener. Here's the error I get:

My solution to this is to remove the reference to jboss-seam.jar in the MANIFEST.MF file
in the ejb project then manually add jboss-seam.jar to that project's build path. This
seems to allow eclipse to find the classes so that the IDE works properly and the
application when it deploys also seems to now work. No clue why.
One additional note - I thought that maybe it was just my config of eclipse so I trashed
the whole thing and downloaded a new fresh 3.4 build (J2EE version), applied all the
current patches, grabbed the latest seam and tools code, and that's all I have in the
IDE (well I have subclipse too).

There is a known problem when using the Seam wizard and JDK 1.6.
Try to set the system compiler compliance level to 1.5 (or use JDK 1.5).
You can also try to rebuild the project (Project>Clean) after finishing the wizard.

My solution to this is to remove the reference to jboss-seam.jar in the MANIFEST.MF file
in the ejb project then manually add jboss-seam.jar to that project's build path. This
seems to allow eclipse to find the classes so that the IDE works properly and the
application when it deploys also seems to now work. No clue why.
One additional note - I thought that maybe it was just my config of eclipse so I trashed
the whole thing and downloaded a new fresh 3.4 build (J2EE version), applied all the
current patches, grabbed the latest seam and tools code, and that's all I have in the
IDE (well I have subclipse too).

So I switched over at the workspace level to JDK 1.5.0_16. I deleted all my existing
projects and created a new one. Same issues. Let me know if you think I should change the
Java version that Eclipse itself is using to run on and I can try that too.

I would like to get this fixed so I also tried totally using 1.5 by starting eclipse from
teh command line like this:

My solution to this is to remove the reference to jboss-seam.jar in the MANIFEST.MF file
in the ejb project then manually add jboss-seam.jar to that project's build path. This
seems to allow eclipse to find the classes so that the IDE works properly and the
application when it deploys also seems to now work. No clue why.
One additional note - I thought that maybe it was just my config of eclipse so I trashed
the whole thing and downloaded a new fresh 3.4 build (J2EE version), applied all the
current patches, grabbed the latest seam and tools code, and that's all I have in the
IDE (well I have subclipse too).

I have tried to reproduce your issue using JDK5/6, Ganymede, JBossTools SVN,
Seam2.1.0Beta1, but haven't succeeded.
In my opinion, the problem, though, lies in your configuration. It is possible that
Eclipse P2 loads some older plugins from the bundle pool location.
Please check if there are some Eclipse plugins in <home_dir>/.eclipse (or in
<home_dir>/.p2).

That's pretty discouraging especially since I completely wiped out my config and
installed a clean eclipse. I have plenty (1,445 objects) of plugins in the plugins and 4
in the p2 directory.
I guess I can try an installation on another computer entirely.

My solution to this is to remove the reference to jboss-seam.jar in the MANIFEST.MF file
in the ejb project then manually add jboss-seam.jar to that project's build path. This
seems to allow eclipse to find the classes so that the IDE works properly and the
application when it deploys also seems to now work. No clue why.
One additional note - I thought that maybe it was just my config of eclipse so I trashed
the whole thing and downloaded a new fresh 3.4 build (J2EE version), applied all the
current patches, grabbed the latest seam and tools code, and that's all I have in the
IDE (well I have subclipse too).

doing funny things when the build is running ;(
But before I resolve it as a duplicate I would like to know what Arne means with this
statement:

What code is not implemented ? Is it just a warning/problem you get via eclipse or is
something actually missing ?
Does it goaway if you rebuild the project ?

My solution to this is to remove the reference to jboss-seam.jar in the MANIFEST.MF file
in the ejb project then manually add jboss-seam.jar to that project's build path. This
seems to allow eclipse to find the classes so that the IDE works properly and the
application when it deploys also seems to now work. No clue why.
One additional note - I thought that maybe it was just my config of eclipse so I trashed
the whole thing and downloaded a new fresh 3.4 build (J2EE version), applied all the
current patches, grabbed the latest seam and tools code, and that's all I have in the
IDE (well I have subclipse too).

When I generate an EAR project using all the default selections with a MySQL DB, I get a
number of errors in the generated code. There are two errors that prevent the generated
application from deploying to the app server:
I had these same issue with seam 2.0 and JBoss Tools 2.1.
1. There are a bunch of statements in the components.xml file for authenticatio, but the
code is not implemented. These have to be manually removed in order to get the application

My solution to this is to remove the reference to jboss-seam.jar in the MANIFEST.MF file
in the ejb project then manually add jboss-seam.jar to that project's build path. This
seems to allow eclipse to find the classes so that the IDE works properly and the
application when it deploys also seems to now work. No clue why.
One additional note - I thought that maybe it was just my config of eclipse so I trashed
the whole thing and downloaded a new fresh 3.4 build (J2EE version), applied all the
current patches, grabbed the latest seam and tools code, and that's all I have in the
IDE (well I have subclipse too).

Hi Max,
I looked at 2194, but I'm not sure what the problem is on that ticket. The main
difference that I see with my issue is that even when I start eclipse from the command
line to run with JDK 1.5, I still have these issues.
I guess I could try one last thing - completely delete JDK 1.6 from my system and then try
again.

My solution to this is to remove the reference to jboss-seam.jar in the MANIFEST.MF file
in the ejb project then manually add jboss-seam.jar to that project's build path. This
seems to allow eclipse to find the classes so that the IDE works properly and the
application when it deploys also seems to now work. No clue why.
One additional note - I thought that maybe it was just my config of eclipse so I trashed
the whole thing and downloaded a new fresh 3.4 build (J2EE version), applied all the
current patches, grabbed the latest seam and tools code, and that's all I have in the
IDE (well I have subclipse too).

When I generate an EAR project using all the default selections with a MySQL DB, I get a
number of errors in the generated code. There are two errors that prevent the generated
application from deploying to the app server:
I had these same issue with seam 2.0 and JBoss Tools 2.1.
1. There are a bunch of statements in the components.xml file for authenticatio, but the
code is not implemented. These have to be manually removed in order to get the application

My solution to this is to remove the reference to jboss-seam.jar in the MANIFEST.MF file
in the ejb project then manually add jboss-seam.jar to that project's build path. This
seems to allow eclipse to find the classes so that the IDE works properly and the
application when it deploys also seems to now work. No clue why.
One additional note - I thought that maybe it was just my config of eclipse so I trashed
the whole thing and downloaded a new fresh 3.4 build (J2EE version), applied all the
current patches, grabbed the latest seam and tools code, and that's all I have in the
IDE (well I have subclipse too).

Closing duplicate.
Cause: JBoss AS and JSF classpath scanning causes duplicate registration of classes
causing Seam to fail - but only fails for projects with a capital first letter...hence not
something we can fix in tools.

When I generate an EAR project using all the default selections with a MySQL DB, I get a
number of errors in the generated code. There are two errors that prevent the generated
application from deploying to the app server:
I had these same issue with seam 2.0 and JBoss Tools 2.1.
1. There are a bunch of statements in the components.xml file for authenticatio, but the
code is not implemented. These have to be manually removed in order to get the application
to work. Here's the components.xml file that I get after running the wizard:
