I have faced the same problem with the release version with very basic Java-To-Java
mapping file. I would actually raise this issue to critical as this issue basically stops
from proper using of graphical editor. Without graphical editor smooks IDE is not really
needed ;).
But anyway I want to thank developers for the effort as tool seems to move in the very
good direction!.

Thanks Andrey - The smooks editor is still considered experimental ( I regret we gave it
version 1.0 this time around, it shold have been 0.5 or something).
We are working on an improved/different/updated editor which will be visible in the 3.1.x
updates soon.
