Snjeza, I'm at a loss on this one. It's very easy to reproduce, and I suspect that
it has to do with the server runtime version. But if you create a SOA-P 5.1 server
configuration and use the EAP 5.0 configuration, I would think it would consider the
server to be "5.0" not "5.1".
At any rate, if I do the following:
1) Create a new EAP 5.0 server and point it at a SOA-P 5.1 ER3 runtime instance and call
it "jboss-soa-p.5.0 Runtime"
2) Go to Project Examples and select ESB for SOA-P 5.0 -> JBoss ESB HelloWorld Example
- ESB
3) The JBoss ESB Runtime and Server Library library variables in the project classpath are
marked as "unbound"
4) If I go in and select my runtime for both libraries (or server-provided in the case of
the ESB runtime), it compiles
So for some reason, the server I create with the name the example wants isn't
satisfying the requirement for:

Again, I think it's because it's a 5.1 runtime in reality even though it's
defined as a 5.0 runtime, but I don't know where to check for that.

There are three issues. They are the following:
1) WTP doesn't configure correctly the classpath for ESB projects (those projects that
don't have the primary facet)
2) the helloworld-client project doesn't have primary runtime, but contains WTP and
ESB classpath entries
3) the helloworld-client project isn't included in the WTP fix
I have programmatically fixed the first problem.
Regarding the second problem, I have created a new helloworld_all.zip archive. Now, the
helloworld-client project contains primary runtime.
Re the third problem, I have added the helloworld-client project to the WTP fix
(project-examples-community-3.1.xml)
Now the Project Examples engine configures the helloworld project if there is SOA 5.x no
matter how you name a runtime.
I can't reproduce the problem when there is SOA 5.x runtime with the name
"jboss-soa-p.5.0 Runtime" in the workspace. It is possible that you have a
misspelled SOA runtime name.

Hi Snjeza, I just pulled the latest and greatest build and a clean Eclipse JEE 3.6.1
install and can still reproduce the issue with the named runtime. It's definitely
"jboss-soa-p.5.0 Runtime" (have checked the spelling 3x) but it's actually a
SOA-P 5.1 runtime that it's pointing to - would that be the issue? The libraries for
ESB and server library are still unbound.

It doesn't work in JBDS 4.0.0.v201012070137R-H33-Beta2.
When runtime with name jboss-soa-p-5.0 Runtime exists before mentioned ESB example is
downloaded only Targeted runtime for helloworld_testclient project has to be fixed.
If name of the runtime is different then there are lot of things to fix.
Both server runtime and esb runtime are defined pointing to SOA 5.0 installation.

I have fixed this issue. Since the fix isn't in the code, it will be available for any
version of JBT/JBDS that includes project-examples-jbds30.xml
2) There is a problem related to recognizing additional components (ESB, Portlet...) when
the workspace contains more runtimes of the same type. For instance: if the workspace
contains JBoss EAP 5.x and JBoss SOA-P 5.x, the Project Examples engine will check only
the first runtime (JBoss EAP 5.x), won't find the ESB component and will claim that
the workspace doesn't contain a valid runtime.
I have fixed this issue in JBT 3.2.0.CR1/JBDS 4.0.0.CR1
A workaround for JBDS 4.0.0.Beta 2:
- remove EAP 5.x runtimes that aren't SOA-P
- create the JBoss ESB HelloWorld example using the Project Examples wizard
