Mickael Istria commented on JBIDE-12299:
----------------------------------------
Eclipse Foundation want us to be installed on 80% of MarketPlace requests. Since we
don't control who can install from marketplace, it means that JBT must be installed on
80% of marketplace users. I bet that more than 20% will use Juno, and more that 20% will
use Indigo (no metrics, but the rate maybe something like 60-40).
So it seems important to support both, because if we support only one, we miss a lot of
users.
Some other plugins (GWT) have trouble, but central and examples is some key pieces of JBT.
It would be cool if it could work on both. But if you tell us it is impossible, especially
for a so close deadline as 3.3.1, we'll trust you and postpone this efforts for later,
hopefully 3.3.2.
This compatibility issue, for JBT in general, not just central and example, prevent JBT
from being installed on a lot of configurations (currently exclusively Eclipse 3.7.2 is
supported). We'll need to discuss that with Max and see whether we can open up
compatibility.
Too restrictive dependency on org.eclipse.mylyn.commons.ui

Key: JBIDE-12299
URL:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-12299
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: project-examples
Affects Versions: 3.3.0.Final
Reporter: Mickael Istria
Assignee: Snjezana Peco
Priority: Critical
Fix For: 3.3.1
Bundle org.jboss.tools.project.examples has a very restrictive dependency range on
org.eclipse.mylyn.commons.ui that prevent it from being installed on Eclipse Juno, which
ships with Mylyn 3.8.
Is this restriction intentional? If possible we should get rid of it.
