50 cents from me... I say if we add id into this hbm.xml - this will clear error marker;
it looks strange cause id should not be obligatory field.
So I treat this as validator bug...

Dima, I check you fix. It is seems to use "identity" name as id candidate is a
wrong solution...
For my opinion, by the sence of the word "identity" is not "id", so
this variable should be selected as "id" by some other criteria, not by it's
name.
I reopen issue. We should try to find better workaround for this...
My thoughts about the problem and about possible fix:
1) there are a lot of sutuations when we can't generate correct hbm.xml (example user
select wrong class which is not entity);
2) currently we generate hbm.xml files which could be wrong at all - this will surprise
the user cause he expected correct hbm.xml in any case;
3) if we can't generate correct hbm.xml - we could a) SHOW WARNING (with explanation
why he will get incorrect hbm.xml) to user (so user will get at list expected result with
incorrect hbm.xml) and/or proposition to select correct id candidate
for me this (3) look like correct workaroun situation, current fix looks bad...

The is not like you discribed here. The algorithm is the following:
1) look for java.lang.Number extenders and select one of them as id (the best was with
name ="id" and I added "identity" as the best name too )
2) if id isn't found after step 1 select any the field with name "id" or
"identity"
3) if id isn't found after step 2 select first field
Today I removed "identity" from the best id candidates, added check that
selected field has not array or collection subclass type and added step 4.
4) if id isn't found after step 3 set id to absent field with name "id"- as
mapping via xml requires id.
About mappings which is not built - we are not guarantee that the mappint will be built.
We just generate a skeleton for the developer. I think this could be a warning in the
wizard.

Does anybody now is that possible to attach Quick Fix to that error marker? That would be
god way to fix it. Quick fix would shows several options:
1. Auto Id selection (That fix could try to looks through class or even DB to find
something can be used as ID)
2. Select ID field
3. Create Id field in class
4. TBD: Any other options?
Options 2 and 3 would be good candidates to be fixed first.

Yes, of course all primitive types except boolean
are considered as id candidates.
if no properties can be identified as id then we could simply have all
properties as the id (a composite id) that is what we do for tables that dont have a
primary key.
The first field with not Array type or Collection subtypetype will be
marked as Id in the case.
The problems will be only when no such fields in the class. But this seems to me such
class is not correct. (Of course if it hasn't a parent with id)
