forcing of a fork. You can still add these patches (and possibly the impl of the methods,
also) without breaking 3.4 compat...

unless these methods use some new classes as parameters or as return values.
There are also some new methods in the I20090415 build that have been added after
releasing M6, but they are just empty methods that can be easily added using quick fixes.
