To start, I think that the cause is that if you do Import existing project into workspace, it creates only Java project and you need Seam and Dynamic Web project facet and also Seam builder in the project properties to enable EL code completion. Is it correct? I added into imported project Seam Support, but it doesn't add Seam Builder and Seam facet file in .settings directory of the project. In contrast I have got a Seam Web project created by JBDS in workspace and it has got in Project properties -> Builders also Seam Builder and Hibernate Builder. WDYT?

Seam and KB builders should be added to the project in order to have code assist enabled. And actually it depends on seam-gen version. Some of them generated not correct eclipse project. It added Seam nature but didn't add Seam builder. In that case JBT can't enable Seam support. You can disable (removes the nature) and re-enable (adds all needed natures and builders) Seam support for the project to workaround this bug. But I'm still can reproduce this issue in JBDS 4.0.0.M2. Anyway if it works for the latest nightly build (trunk/Beta2) then we can close the issue. Peter, could you verify that JBDS 4.0.Beta2 works for you too?
