it looks like the approach to have this working is pretty similar to what xavier did when

I agree that this would be pretty useful. On the other hand, I always had the impression
that the shell that RSE etc. offers is not on par with the real command line in terms of
scrolling speed, reactiveness etc. I therefore doubt that this would be used for serious
