I' facing 'Already publishing' error dialog when working on web apps using
AS7. I still did not found exact steps to reproduce. Right now I've once reproduced
doing following:
Have stated AS7.0.1
Have deployed web app (which currenly caused deployment error on AS)
Imported jboss-as demos (5 projects) using 'Import Existing maven projects'
right after that, I got 'Already publishing'
Another thing I've noticed is that the deployed project is in state : 'Started,
Republish' is this state correct? What does it mean?

Hmm .. it does not seem to be deployment state related, I've just had all deployments
in 'Started, Synchronized' and after removing then using 'Remove All' I
got 'Already publishing' again

I spent about 40 minutes tracing through this, and no real luck at all. The flow of
execution I see is as follows:
1) Full Publish sets some module state, then launches a publish server job
2) The publish server job does no action except launch another publish job. Sometimes you
may see two jobs in the progress view, but this seems unrelated
3) The second job does the business of calling publish
4) It makes its way into DeployableServerBehaviour.publishStart(etc), and creates the
proper publish method
5) It does the business of publishing. Even if there's an exception during the
publish, it heads to ServerBehaviourDelegate line 974, which is a finally clause, to do
cleanup
6) PublishFinish for as7 goes to DelegatingJBoss7ServerBehaviour.publishFinish, which
tries to set the marker files, then calls super.publishFinish
7) DelegatingServerBehaviour.publishFinish gets the delegate.publishFinish(etc), which, in
non-as7, will try to resume the scanner, if possible. This is in
LocalJBoss7BehaviourDelegate.publishFinish(etc), however this should be a no-op since as7
has no way to resume or suspend the scanner.
8) Heads to DeployableServerBehaviour.publishFinish, which clears the publish method.
So... I am unable to get two differnet publish actions to get into publishStart before a
publishFinish is called, and even if an exception in the publish is thrown, it should
still go into publishFinish to cleanup anyway. The only way I can see an error here is if
there's an exception thrown in publishFinish, which prevents the
super.super.publishFinish from being reached.
I can add protections to these two sections just to ensure that the final cleanup *always*
occurs no matter what. I will do that.

Rob, I'm getting it all the time with last version from trunk. I don't do
something complicated. To be specific I'm testing jboss-as-kitchensink example
imported as maven project. I start as7 server and get this error after any change in
project like adding or changing files.

I've been trying for about 2 days to replicate this, and still with no luck. I've
tried in official builds. I've tried setting breakpoints to see if at any point two
publishes get called at the same time. I've tried to push the autopublisher into
invoking through workspace changes while a publish event is in the middle of occurring.
I've tried modifying the full-publish action to run twice very quickly, but both
initiate jobs, and htose jobs are in the same family and will not execute at the same
time. They execute consecutively, even if launched independently and in their own threads.
Basically, nothing I do can get this to repeat. I remember I used to see it in logs on
occasion, but I never do anymore, and nothing I do can get it to replicate.

I am getting the same error. I used JBDS 5.0.0 M4, JBoss AS 7.0.1. My steps:
* Add new JBoss AS 7 server if you don't have it in servers view
* Create new Seam2 Web Project - select 2.5 version of Web Module and Runtime - AS 7 as
Libor proposed. Press finish
* Project should be automatically deployed to server if the server is running. Two files
are deployed: Seam2Project, Seam2Project-ds.xml (exact names will be different)
* StartException is thrown
* In servers view, select Seam2Project-ds.xml and through for example context menu click
on Restart
* The same StartException is thrown
* In servers view, select Seam2Project-ds.xml and through for example context menu click
on Remove
* Error dialog with "Already publishing" appears

Jaroslav - I keep it open to hear where you are seeing StartExceptions? I only see it on
the server side where it is expected since Seam 2 apps currently does not deploy/run on
AS7. Thus I don't see how your steps related to this issue? do I miss something?
