Did you entered simple 'projectName' into 'Substituted El expressions'
table -? If so then according to you entered value will replace all occurrences with the
projectName.
If you will enter #{projectName} in 'Substituted El expressions' table will
replace all occurrences with #{projectName] expressions.
If you will enter ${projectName} in Substituted El expressions' t able will replace
all occurrences with ${projectName}

Why would you *ever* want that behavior ?
That forces you to basically do parse *all* strings for replacement. Massive performance
hog and very weak semantics of what gets replaced.
Users should enter 'projectName' in the UI and then dependent on the context we
replace #{projectName} or ${projectName} (when is ${} btw. used in xhtml?)

I can remake that but in jsf user can override ELResolver and using any el expression
prefix in your application for example &{} or %{}.

I did not realize ELResolvers could override the el expression prefix - could you point me
to how ?
In any case I still believe that we should have the ui list property/expression names and
then you would only replace in the common cases prefixes (e.g. #{.*})
When that is done we could consider adding in a global preference where users could
specify which "boundaries" we should look for.

#1) Reading that just shows me that ${} means immediate and #{} deferred evaluation. I
don't see anything in an ELResolver that can override the prefixes or semantics. I
only see them being able to resolve variables (excluding the #{} part)
#2) Arguing is good - i.e. I did not recall ${} was EL until you pointed me to it :)
p.s. any plans on allowing recursive evaluation ? e.g. imageLocation=/img and
photos=#{imagelocation}/photos

Eugene, I still do not understand why prefix are needed at all. $ and # are the two
standard ones; please show how any user is supposed to change that ? An ELResolver just
