Actually "new connection" is only used in a fresh install when you never ever
selected any connection before. Once you selected a connection when using the connections
dialog this connection will be preselected. Most obviously this changed with the fix in
JBIDE-17568.
[~mlabuda]: can you please check again if the current behaviour (which change with
JBIDE-17568) is still not ok for you?

should preselect existing connection

Key: JBIDE-17441
URL:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-17441
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Enhancement
Components: openshift
Affects Versions: 4.2.0.Beta2
Reporter: Marián Labuda
Assignee: Marián Labuda
Priority: Minor
Fix For: 4.2.0.Beta3
Feature to create OpenShift application from an existing application (implemented as part
of JBIDE-10546) via Configure menu item in context menu of an application should preselect
connection if there is any connection in OpenShift explorer. In case of more connections
it could choose first one or use some strategy for choice (e.g. last added). Currently
there is preselected new connection.
