And this process takes a lot of time. But Progress view is emty. Suspending Eclipse threads I see Package explorer is being refreshed and it parses (unzip) jars from JBoss AS. So such IO oparations are very slow and it's a resoun why it takes so much time. I guess you see KB validator process in Progress view just because Package Explorer refreshing eating all the CPU resources and it makes KB Validator works so slow too. In my case KB validator seems to managed to finish its work before Package Explorer starts refreshing. KB Validator can be slow for big projects but it doesn't take much CPU time. I have no idea why Package Explorer make so deep and slow refreshing in that case.

Vitaly, if you disable the XHTML validator, you won't be able to reproduce the issue. The fix uses the entity resolver from Webtools. The XHTML validation is much faster (more than 20 times on my machine). The XHTML Validator doesn't require internet connection anymore which fixes https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-5933. The fix is committed to the trunk. Max, Will we add it to CR2/CR3 since it significantly speeds up the XHTML validation.

The old entity resolver was unnecessarily downloading a few schemas that already existed in the XML catalog which was causing a problem. Webtools entity resolver solves all the schemas correctly so that internet connection is unnecessary. I have also tested the validation without the internet connection. It works correctly (the old validator throws a lot of exception). If there would be any schema that wouldn't be in the catalog, the webtools entity resolver would cache that schema. The problem is fixed. XHTML validation is faster more than 20 times on my machine (2Mbit internet connection speed). This fix also solves JBIDE-5933 and JBIDE-5956

I did what Vitalii described: 1. Created Seam EAR project. 2. Generated Entities via Seam Generate Entities wizard. I have some MySQL DB which I used there. 3. It generated ~100 files. 4. I removed all the generated enties (java classes) in Package Explorer. 5. CPU usage rised to the maximum for long time. I have auto-build enabled. I'm not sure I met the same problem that Vitali did BUT I see KB Validator is working on Vitali's screenshot. And XHTML validator is not KB validator. And in my case I don't see any validation process at all. Actually it had been finished by CPU usage rised. So looks like you have fixed JBIDE-5933 and JBIDE-5956 but not this issue :(
