On Windows, the Maven Repositories wizard's preview pane always shows whitespace
changes, diminishing the preview usefulness.

The issue occurs when you use the settings.xml file with a non-system line delimiter (if
you, for instance, have created a file on Linux or you have changed the "New text
file line delimiter" property in Eclipse and created a file).
The Maven Configuration wizard creates a new settings using the system line delimiter.
That settings is different from the settings.xml.
The issue will disappear after saving the file the first time.
Not sure if we need to do anything related to this issue since the wizard creates the
settings.xml file with the system line delimiter, but the issue happens only when using a
file that has a non-system delimiter.

I also checked I had the same issue whether the line endings were LF or CR/LF. This is
really an issue with *leading* white spaces.

* Open Window > Preferences > General > Compare/Patch
* Check "Ignore white space"
Workaround: Workaround Exists
If possible, we could add an "Ignore white space" checkbox on the wizard, so
that setting would be locally applied, instead of having to go to the workspace
preferences and set it.
Dunno if it's doable though.

The issue is caused by a non-system line delimiter. You see an invalid leading space
character, but the real issue is the result of a line ending character(s).
The issue can easily be fixed if you convert the settings.xml by editing it on Windows or
using the unix2dos utility.
Changing the line delimiter in the Eclipse preferences won't help for already created
files.
The mentioned workaround can't be used for git because it invalidates files again when
committing/pushing.
