I asked Supriya and she said: "Yeah, it was this. Later, what I did [is I] removed all the minishift binaries, even from the Trash folder and it started to work." That is strange indeed. For me on Mac, the standard dir used is what's in $TMPDIR, in my case /var/folders/j_/66p6ddvs7nb42z5bz7wzs1wc0000gn/T/ .
