m2eclipse uses the org.eclipse.jdt.launching.classpathProviders extension point (the
MavenRuntimeClasspathProvider class) to set a classpath for some launch configurations
(Java Applications, Junit Tests and TestNG tests). We could add configurators that would
create a classpath for other launch configurations. Are you talking about any concrete
launch configurations?

my specific usecase was to be able to run what was in a mvn exec:java goal without having
to wait for maven to do the launch externally.

its great they got that as their default handling; my usecase is though I want to run a
main java class with a specific scope instead of the default one. I would expect that I
have an option for the classpath container to set it explicitly instead of the default.
