I'm trying to configure an Eclipse project for WAR deployment to JBoss AS. I go to the
"Project Archives" view and create a new WAR configuration via the wizard. It
shows up, no problem. Then I try to add a new fileset to the WAR by right-clicking on it
and choosing "New Fileset". Nothing happens in the UI, and in the console, I can

Max Andersen asked if there was anything special about the directory. (I assume he means
the project directory.) There's nothing special that comes to mind. It's not a
symlink, but it is external to the "workspace" directory tree.

well, a patch is uploaded. I couldn't replicate the issue but I wrapped the method
with a try-catch.

Rob - the issue is very easy to replicate (at least on linux); I get the NPE to because
the project is outside the workspace and the cause is this code in
FilesetInfoWizardPAge.fillDefaults():
rootDir =
ResourcesPlugin.getWorkspace().getRoot().getProject(parentNode.getProjectPath().lastSegment()).getLocation();
This returns null when the project is not in the workspace.

btw. your fix does work but I fear it is ignoring a problem about how the project
dirs/file dirs are handled which we need to keep an eye on.
I updated svn with a fix that tries to solve some of this but we need to see if it is the
*right* fix.

rob - for your particular issue this is fine; I changed the NPE catch to just check for a
null path and it falls back to just assume "the right thing"
But I need to get Rob to look into why the code in the first place assumes the project
path == project name.

I'm trying to configure an Eclipse project for WAR deployment to JBoss AS. I go to
the "Project Archives" view and create a new WAR configuration via the wizard.
It shows up, no problem. Then I try to add a new fileset to the WAR by right-clicking on
it and choosing "New Fileset". Nothing happens in the UI, and in the console, I
can see a NullPointerException. Stack trace given below:
