Aaron Pestel commented on JBDS-1168:
------------------------------------
Agreed. My concerns are:
1.) The installer dialog box makes it look like the customer has to have Java 5 and that
JBDS itself does not support Java 6 (though EAP requires it).
2.) With the gij/gcj comment I have two issues:
A.) I think some have interpreted that to be OpenJDK, IcedTea, or the JVM that comes
with RHEL. So if we're going to say we don't support gij/gcj in the installer,
I'd like to see us spell it out more clearly.
B.) I think by saying we don't support gij/gcj, we are somewhat implying that we
do support all the other possible JVMs. That's why I would rather we say it the
opposite way like "JBDS has been tested with OpenJDK, SunJDK, and IBM JDK" or
something
So for proposed verbiage, I would recommend something like this: "JBoss Developer
Studio works with Java 5 or Java 6 and has been tested with OpenJDK, SunJDK, and IBM JDK.
Please note that JBoss EAP 5 requires Java 6 or higher."
Thanks!

Key: JBDS-1168
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBDS-1168
Project: Developer Studio (JBoss Developer Studio)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: installer
Affects Versions: 3.0.0.GA
Reporter: Max Rydahl Andersen
Assignee: Denis Golovin
Fix For: 3.0.1.GA
Attachments: JBDS_Install_Screen.png
see attached screenshot .
1) It should say "supports Java 5 or 6" or "needs at least Java 5"
2) gij should be gcj
3) and possibly mention that OpenJDK and Sun JDK are the recommended ones ?
