Brian Fitzpatrick commented on JBIDE-4712:
------------------------------------------
Can you provide some common use cases for how someone would use this overview page? Though
I think I see where you're going with this, I don't know that what's there
really helps the user out at all. I was lost just looking at the page. And somehow I
don't think an "Overview" page for the"Overview" page would work
all too well...
I'd take a look at the Overview page of the plugin.xml/manifest.mf file in Eclipse. It
breaks things down a bit further into task areas on the right side -- Plug-In Content...
Extension/Extension Point Content... Testing... Exporting... And then on the left-hand
side you see the high-level details for the plugin.
On the screen shot you provided, what is the Default Selector? What does it do? What is
the Default Condition Ref? The Default Target Profile? The user needs more context into
how to actually use these bits.
And I think you're on the right track with the right-hand side, but I'd break that
into more sections like the Plug-in editor... I doubt we need the "Overview"
page section, since the user is already there. :) But breaking down the tasks of each
page... Configuring Readers... Configuring Filters... And I don't think we need to
mention the "Source" page here, as it's kind of obvious I think. We might
think about changing "Source" to "smooks-config.xml" as well, to mimic
the setup of the Plug-in editor tab.
