The sample works with *empty* date field, cause there is a check in the js code, and '1970-01-01' will be send by default. Anyways, this date issue has nothing in common with cross-domain ajax. Frankly, I haven't tested the sample on Fedora, but on Windows, Mac OS, and Ubuntu it works fine. Here is the demo video - http://screencast.com/t/SGTjPaTBrb.
