He will leave the cheese, and return the extra pie to the kitchen. --- So... to avoid this "some of your selections are already installed ", the user can simply use the connector which doesn't include multiple units of functionality bundled into a single connector. If a user knows he's already installed something, he can deselect parts of the connector and install just the feature(s) he wants, instead of all of them. Then the user will not be told "this is already installed". We could consider changing this to as you suggest, check if selected features are already installed, and grey those choices out.
