RiftSaw has now been updated to accept both bpel-deploy.xml and deploy.xml (see
RIFTSAW-281). The samples and integration tests have been updated to use the preferred
deploy.xml filename.

Correct me if I'm wrong Gary, but if we allow any random name to be used for the
deployment descriptor, the runtime wouldn't know what to look for - it needs to be a
predefined name. Sort of like web.xml for web applications.

Yes that is correct. Currently the released version will only work with bpel-deploy.xml,
but the next milestone of 2.2, and the tech preview based on 2.1.x, will also allow
deploy.xml.

For now, eclipse bpel uses deploy.xml for ode, jboss bpel use bpel-deploy.xml for riftsaw.
If only change the name from bpel-deploy.xml to deploy.xml, it is easy. But I want to

what version jboss tools or jbds will use eclipse bpel instead of jboss bpel? If it is
very soon,
we don't need change our jboss bpel codes, just use eclipse bpel directly, but if not
soon,
we should fix this issue in jboss bpel codes.

I think the plan is to wait until there is a release of RiftSaw that can cope with the
deploy.xml filename - which maybe this week, but might be better to wait for JBT beta2.

do the user of early versions of riftsaw to handle this change? He can't use early
versions of riftsaw in jboss tools.

Both JBT and riftsaw will not be final releases, so we just need to post of riftsaw forum
to say that users of 2.1.0.Final should only use JBT 3.1.0. And if they wish to use
3.2.0.beta2, then they will need to rename the file before deploying.

I thought that Riftsaw was backwards compatible and is now able to accept both
bpel-deploy.xml and deploy.xml...
As far as the tooling is concerned, the deployment editor should be able to open existing
"bpel-deploy.xml" but the New File Wizard should only create new deployment
descriptors as "deploy.xml" and "Save As" should be disabled in the
editor (which it already is as I just discovered :)

Yes Riftsaw is backward compatible, it handles both files - however this fix is only in
the 2.1.1+ and 2.2.x branches - so anyone using the releases 2.1.0.Final release will have
a problem if using the deploy.xml file. So fix will be in SOA-P 5.1 and RiftSaw
2.2.0.M1+.
