Nick Boldt commented on JBIDE-16375:
------------------------------------
+1, love it!
I might suggest we get [~mmusaji] and [~mmurray]'s eyeballs on the copy shown to users
to accept the fact that some EA features are not quite GA:
{code:title=https://github.com/mickaelistria/jbosstools-central/commit/5c478f22ecddf0bb2ef0f3aaa326d6dd4f08c10b#diff-d6fa7f846cbbfd4e510091629777316dR20}
+SoftwarePage_earlyAccessSection_Title=Early-Access Features
+SoftwarePage_earlyAccessSection_message=Early-Access features are features that are NOT
supported, and NOT guaranteed to work \
+correctly in your IDE. However, they can provide some interesting features that are still
being developed, and that the most \
+eager developers or contributors may want to try without waiting. So use them at your own
risk!
+SoftwarePage_earlyAccessSection_checkbox=I understand those pitfalls, and I still want to
access Early-Access features.
{code}
I see the words "feature" and "access" quite a few times in the above
copy; I might suggest we simplify that to reduce duplication. I also wouldn't
hyphenate "Early-Access", but rather have "Early Access", as
that's what we already have in the wild, eg., on pages like
https://devstudio.jboss.com/earlyaccess/7.0/
Allow to extend Central extensions catalog with "Early
Access" stuff
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JBIDE-16375
URL:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-16375
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Feature Request
Components: central, discovery
Reporter: Mickael Istria
Assignee: Mickael Istria
Fix For: 4.2.0.Beta2
In order to make it easier for people to consume some "Beta" extensions from
JBT or JBDS release (such as installing a Beta of JBT-IS on top of a JBT release), it
would make sense to have Central allow users to select some catalogs in a UI entry such as
"Include Experimental stuff" to show additional catalog entries.
Either this could be a single catalog with the experimental content being annotated, or
it could be 2 (or more catalogs) which have different quality levels.
The Central UI will need to give feedback on the quality level for a given entry
("supported" or "experimental" or ...).
