---------------------------------------
I am just looking at the screenshots that Joshua has posted links for above.
Currently we have 3 types there EAP, SOA-P and AS.
In reality we should have the following types: EAP, EWP, EWS, SOA-P, and EPP.
But I agree with what Max is suggesting above.
Do we really need to have the user select the type and version ?
The installer should have the intelligence to find out what type and version it is based
on location of server installation.
User would only need to enter location and name. If the installer cannot recognize it as
one of the type supported, then the error message should pop up and block the user from
proceeding.
Additionally the installer can have additional non selectable labels below to indicate to
the user what the type of server and versions are.
So, instead of selectable "Type" radio buttons and "Version" list box,
I recommend adding the following labels.
"JBoss Middleware Platform Type: ............."
"Platform Version: ......"
Based on the intelligence gathered from the server location, the above fields could be
filled with the right type.
Like
"JBoss Middleware Platform Type: JBoss EAP"
"Platform Version: 5.0"
Need to integrate new ESB and SOA-P runtimes into JBDS installer
----------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JBDS-1001
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBDS-1001
Project: JBoss Developer Studio
Issue Type: Bug
Components: installer
Affects Versions: 3.0.0.CR2
Reporter: Brian Fitzpatrick
Assignee: Denis Golovin
Fix For: 3.0.0.CR2
Original Estimate: 0 minutes
Remaining Estimate: 0 minutes
For the JBDS installer, we have the ability to install additional servers such as EAP 4,
EAP 5, SOA-P 4 and EPP 4 and plain JBoss AS. We should add the ability to install the
SOA-P 5 runtime and possibly the ESB server (4.7).
How do we go about doing that? Need to look at the latest JBDS build
(
http://reports.qa.atl.jboss.com/binaries/RHDS/builds/nightly/3.0.0.RC1/20...) and
try to install it to see what, if anything is missing.
