Function RAND() should be RANDOM(int, int) for Teradata
-------------------------------------------------------
Key: TEIID-1974
URL:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIID-1974
Project: Teiid
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Query Engine
Affects Versions: 7.6
Reporter: Paul Nittel
Assignee: Steven Hawkins
Fix For: 7.7.1, 8.0
This query: SELECT INTKEY, RAND() FROM SmallA works for all source except Teradata. With
TD it get this exception:
[Teradata Database] [TeraJDBC 13.00.00.06] [Error 3706] [SQLState 42000] Syntax error:
expected something between '(' and ')'.
After looking at the TD Web site, I found it expects the RANDOM function with low and
high limits (integers). It expects something like: SELECT INTKEY, RANDOM(2,6) FROM SmallA
It would appear we need to be able to pass the function in that form to the source.
If I try to query (through a VDB) SELECT INTKEY, RANDOM(2,6) FROM SmallA or SELECT
INTKEY, RAND(2,6) FROM SmallA, Teiid reports the function is in an unknown form. (This
wasn't a surprise.)
