Hello,
I am also facing the same issue.
After installing JDBS (jbdevstudio-product-universal-7.1.1.GA-v20140314-2145-B688.jar) on
UBUNTU 1310.
Menus are not expanding or opening? Is there any log file?

It's a bug in Ubuntu
regarding SWT support, that got fixed in more
recent Ubuntu versions (14.04 has this fixed IIRC).
Have you tried to use the "jbdevstudio-unity" launcher, that applies a
workaround that should avoid such issues ?

Hi,
I have resolved the bug by using oracle 32 bit jdk. Earlier I was using 64 bit open jdk.
Infact the appearance has also enhanced by using orcale jdk {emoticon:class=jive_macro

There was a switch that moved menus from the top bar to the ap. I applied that and most
menus thereafter were fine.
However, source and refactor did not open, just a little flash of blur is observed.
Looking at the keyboard shortcuts, so that I could just use the functions anyway, I
noticed that most of those had not been assigned. So I found assignments for my
fav's.
I think that I noticed also, though, that ct-shft-l did not display them. So, it seemed
that they were left out somehow.

Its still not working for me. Here's the complete story
64 bit Open JDK 7
1. First I installed with 64 bit open jdk 7.
2. Everything else was working fine except for the Menu.
32 bit oracle jdk
3. Then I re-installed it with 32 bit oracle jdk.
4. With Oracle jdk I was able to expand only the top level menu items. The child menu
items were getting expanded but none of them worked.
5. Also, everything else stopped working for example I was not able to create any project
Can you please tell me the steps to use "jbdevstudio-unity" launcher in Ubuntu
1310 64 bit or let me know which jdk I should use?

Can you please tell me the steps to use "jbdevstudio-unity"
launcher in Ubuntu 1310 64 bit First make sure the jbdevstudio-unity file is executable
(you can see an option or right-click properties, or use chmod). Then just double-click on
the file. Ubuntu should show you a popup asking you whether you want to run or open the
file. Select run > or let me know which jdk I should use? Both are supposed to work. If
you're on a 64-bit machine, a 64-bit JRE is recommended. So I would simply advise to
try both and keep the best one. In case both are working equally, keeping OpenJDK 7 for 64
bits. Lately, Ubuntu hasn't been a very good integrator for Eclipse and some other
Java technologies. Maybe you should consider using Fedora instead.

Just checked that "jbdevstudio-unity" is not an executable file (if I double

Right click says Its a binary file and it is present under jbds root.
One interesting thing I have observed is that if the Top level Menus are working then the

finally I tried with oracle jdk 64 bit.. its working ..and now the
"jbdevstudio-unity" launcer is also an executable file ... I ran
"jbdevstudio-unity" instead of regular jbds ...and now all the menus are
accessible and I am also able to create project.
just saw these errors in the terminal

This looks like a bug from the m2e version 1.1.0.20120530-0009 and onwards .. but nothing
serious... can be easily fixed.
