[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-15435) "installed plugins" detection seems fishy in project examples / central
by Fred Bricon (JIRA)
Fred Bricon commented on JBIDE-15435:
-------------------------------------
So Project fixes check for the presence of only one plugin/bundle id : https://github.com/jbosstools/jbosstools-central/blob/master/examples/plu...
A possible fix that would maintain backward compat would be to consider the id as a connectorId first (check it exists in the catalog), else fall back to legacy plugin check

> Following JBDS-2753, [~maxandersen] says he installed the JBoss GWT connector, which dragged the GPE plugins.
> Some functionality seem missing according to Max (which ones?). In the JBoss Central 'software updates' page, the GWT/GPE connector is shown as missing. In the GWT example wizard, the feature appears as installed. One of the 2 is wrong, obviously.

> Refactor/Rename a quickstart (project examples) and/or archetype generated project is difficult. Hibernate console error, maven pom.xml references, persistence.xml etc.
> Check what issues there are and see which we can fix.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-2686) Investigate use of SpringSource's Quick Search in JBT/JBDS Central
by Max Rydahl Andersen (JIRA)
Max Rydahl Andersen commented on JBDS-2686:
-------------------------------------------
[~mlippert] we prefer to not fork plugins if it can be avoided ;) we will though "fork" the updatesite to be sure we can provide a download for our builds and users no matter if the updatesite dissapears or just is down for a bit. We do that for all 3rd party plugins.
My main two concerns are:
A) that it continues to not be hardcoded into any springsource specific functionallity (like your dashboard or giant UDC dialog ;) - currently it looks standalone, so thats great.
B) that future updates are stable/within same plugin namespace etc.
