[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-2852) Database/source/connection Usability

For the Teiid Connection importer, yes. You can create/deploy new Data Sources through the Teiid API but we chose to keep DTP connection profiles out of this feature.

> Connecting to a database from within JBDS/Eclipse is a multi-step, multi-screen, potentially error-prone challenge.
> Forge is involved as it can generate entities from schema
> Datasources are needed in/on AS/Wildfly/EAP in order for the project deploy
> Persistence.xml may needed to be tweaked for the datasource
> End-user would like to navigate the schema in the DTP/Hibernate Tools, interactively review the data and there was once a feature for viewing an ORM diagram that I seem to have forgotten how it is displayed.
> What happens when a project that needs a database connection is imported into the IDE?
> This was partially addressed with
> https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-15263
> Let's see if we can continue to improve the workflow by reducing steps, making it more obvious what steps are required (e.g. hey developer, get the mysql driver .jar), auto generating the -ds.xml, with a decent explanation for the end-user to follow.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-16604) JBoss BIRT Integration isn't compatible with BIRT 4.3
by nicolas duminil (JIRA)
nicolas duminil commented on JBIDE-16604:
-----------------------------------------
I tested on SOA-P 5.2.0 and it works normally. I reverted my modifications (i.e. removed web:context-filter from components.xml, came back to the initial order of filters in web.xml, etc.) and it still works. So, now I'm running the initial war generated by Seam/BIRT framework, from which I removed the org.apache.xerces_2.9.0 archive and to which I've added the two archives that you provided me with. It works.
The I've remembered that the SOA-P 5.3.1 I was using has been patched with the package soa-p-5.3.1-jbpm5.jar which aims at replacing jBPM3 with jBPM5 in SOA-P. So, either there is a problem with SOA-P 5.3.1 or the with the patch. I will test on a vanilla SOA-P 5.3.1 when I'll have the time. I think there are chances that the patch (which has been already retired) causes this problem.
Many thanks again for your help.

So just to confirm what I grok - you dont actually use the AS server API, you have your own teiid subsystem to extract the data and send it in "DDL" format to further processing. No DTP datasources is actually configured. correct ?

[~burrsutter] Yes, and please clarify if you mean org.jboss.tools.gwt.* [1] or org.jboss.tools.maven.gwt [2]. The former is already deprecated in JBDS 7.1; the latter will be deprecated and dropped as soon as Google produces their own replacement, or so [~fbricon] has told me.
