[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3934) Uninstall process results in odd things
by Alexey Kazakov (JIRA)

Alexey Kazakov commented on JBDS-3934:
--------------------------------------
Did you install devstudion using the installer?
If so then the proper way to uninstall it is to use the uninstaller:
1. cd path/to/JBoss Developer Studio/Uninstaller
2. java -jar uninstaller.jar
What you are trying to do is to uninstall devstudio product from Eclipse. This is an Eclipse feature (not devstudio). It is not supposed to uninstall Eclipse itself. Only our product/feature/plugin.

> I've tried to uninstall devstudio 10 GA a few times and got odd results. I'm trying to replicate one of the odd results, so I'll talk about the really odd one I just encountered:
> 1. Uninstalling by selecting both the the eclipse test instance and devstudio 10 results in restarting devstudio but without these two components available to uninstall. Surely uninstall should just remove devstudio and then exit devstudio.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3924) Installation looks incomplete but is actually completed

[~mhusnain] I completely agree that this is a bug anyway. Just wanted to understand where the problem is. In installation itself or in the status.
[~dgolovin] do you have any idea what is going on?

> Running the standalone installer file starts the devstudio install as expected, but twice I have noticed that the Next button is available to click (indicating that the installation has completed) when the status shows that only 2/3 of the installation steps are concluded. (see screenshot for this screen).

Misha Ali updated JBDS-3934:
----------------------------
Attachment: error.log
Error log from when devstudio uninstalls from the gui, asks permission to restart to apply changes, then unexpectedly restarts devstudio despite the fact that it should no longer be able to run.

---------------------------------
Tried again and can reproduce the same issue. Attaching the error log for the time it restarts after an uninstall (it shouldn't be able to) in case this helps.
