There are 2 issues here:
# a difference/bug in the template where the kitchensink is not deployed to *ROOT.war* but to *kitchensink.war*
# a bug in our adapter so that it then does not publish to *kitchensink.war* but to *ROOT.war*
I believe that this is cause by the adapter creating a ROOT.war. The adapter syncs to ROOT.war, not to kitchensink.war causing the above error.
Here are the details:
* when the application pod starts up, there's no ROOT.war, just a kitchensink.war.
* When you do Show In > Browser you dont see the kitchensink app but the welcome page. You only see kitchensink once you add "/kitchensink" to the url
* the route in the deployment points to "/", not "/kitchensink".
* the server adapter then syncs to ROOT.war, not to kitchensink.war

I believe that this is cause by the adapter creating a ROOT.war. The adapter syncs to ROOT.war, not to kitchensink.war causing the above error.
Here are the details:
* when the application pod starts up, there's no ROOT.war, just a kitchensink.war.
* When you do Show In > Browser you dont see the kitchensink app but the welcome page. You only see kitchensink once you add "/kitchensink" to the url
* the route in the deployment points to "/", not "/kitchensink".

I believe that this is cause by the adapter creating a ROOT.war. The adapter syncs to ROOT.war, not to kitchensink.war causing the above error.
Here are the details:
* when the application pod starts up, there's no ROOT.war, just a kitchensink.war.
* When you do Show In > Browser you dont see the kitchensink app but the welcome page. You only see kitchensink once you add "/kitchensink" to the url
* the route in the deployment points to "/", not "/kitchensink".

so the root cause of this is the deploying failing bcs it complains that the kitchensink datasource was already registered:
