Here 3 screenshots which shows tern with simple compeltion :
1) activate tern console
2) select ecma5 JSON Type definition in Tern Facets
3) open completion for charAt string method and see trace of tern server in the console.

Seems reproducible only for first attempt and then need to restart JBT to get exception
again
