Not sure if one can call the Types *programming language* or *runtime quickstart*. The
type is actually the runtime your application will run on. Of course these runtimes are
tides to particullar programming languages (since most programming languages require a
runtime) but the runtimes itself are not the programming language. They're just
running programs written in the programming languages that they're tied to.
Furthermore IMHO the quickstarts are a different kind of beast. In the OpenShift
terminology the quickstarts are the pre-built applications aka *Instant Apps* that the
Web-UI is offering currently: Wordpress, Drupal etc.
