Agreed - Nick's response to the linked JIRA covers this one too:

site, and you're using a not-quite-released site (CR).
<ldimaggi_mtg> And since as you point out the installer knows to keep your newer
version in place of the older one, and there's no problem doing the install (nothing
blocks) I don't see this as being an issue.
