turns out this was added at some point in awestruct it self.
So we just need to have
{code}
:page-date: 2015-06-24
{code}
in top of the blog together with rest of the attributes.
I've updated the templates to signal this change.

there keep being situations where the date of writing blog is not when it is released and
it is then forgotten.
For now the date is required and used by awestruct to figure out the publish date.
Instead we should allow to use an attribute in the front matter so filenames and the url
does not contain a date.
