Yes, that's also my feeling. JBoss Central is perfect as welcome page for JBDS. So
either we also try to make it the welcome page (will require some development efforts), or
we just get rid of the welcome page and JBDS would show workbench, and JBoss Central page
in editor area.

The welcome page for JBDS is really useless. It doesn't provide any value to the
user. Moreover, it looks quite old-fashioned.
In such case, it would be better to remove it and prevent users from seeing it.
