Rob Stryker commented on JBDS-3162:
-----------------------------------
I suggest if we do this change to at least follow the short names
listed on
https://mojo.redhat.com/docs/DOC-962110 either in the Approved Abbreviation or
the product code. Not a mix of the two.
As I've already said, it would seem very strange to have JBoss EAP, JBoss EWP, JBoss
AS, JBoss JPP, and JBoss Fuse Service Works. It would be more reasonable to lobby that
FSW simply become an approved abbreviation. If the point here is to make sure the server
view can be moved around into areas with a lower width, then Fuse Service Works would be
the only server adapter that would extend and require a scrollbar.
And this should be consistent across wizard and runtime detected
servers.
I explained in another comment above that the defaults for a server adapter name via the
New Server Wizard does not have access to the home directory until the second page. The
widget to change the name is on the FIRST page. If the user changes the name on the first
page, and then browses to the second page, we cannot (and should not) override their
decision.
Basically, adapters made through the New Server Wizard cannot access specific installation
details for naming purposes. They can only use the server adapter name (ie, Wildfly, EAP,
AS) but not the internal details (SOA-P, FSW, etc).
Change "jboss-eap" to "JBoss Enterprise Application
Platform"

Key: JBDS-3162
URL:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBDS-3162
Project: Developer Studio (JBoss Developer Studio)
Issue Type: Feature Request
Components: runtime-detection, server, ui/branding
Reporter: Burr Sutter
Assignee: Rob Stryker
Labels: f2f2014
Fix For: 9.0.0.Alpha2
Attachments: JBDS-3162.suggested.png
When installing JBDS+EAP (same installer), the default name under the Servers tab is
"jboss-eap". This is a request to have that default server name changed to
"JBoss Enterprise Application Platform".
And the default runtime name to "JBoss EAP Runtime".
