The similar issues box is great and the attach log check box, also the option for users to attach more files such as a screen capture. So the docs have a 'Report a bug link' which takes users to a semi prefilled in 'create a jira' window. The good: easy for users to submit bugs, prefills in useful info for writer such as issue type (bug), component, environment (book title and build number), key headings in description field to assist user to provide a useful description(!). The bad: there are two many other jira fields and a user not familiar with jira may not know which ones they need to fill in, reporter field is not auto filled in. * give user as few jira fields as necessary - so probably just summary and description * use additional fields to auto-submit information on behalf of the user - for example the 'affects version' field and stick the JBDS or JBT/component build number in the environment field (this info might be in the attached log file but if the user deselects the 'attach log' check box then it will be lost, right?) * have default text in the description field to prompt the user in providing sufficient info, so something like {noformat} Describe the issue: Steps to Reproduce: {noformat} * have a message/warning informing users they need to set jira user name in preferences when it is missing (perhaps like the discrete messages telling users to set SSH keys IDE preferences for OpenShift or need a enterprise maven repo in project wizards) * once user clicks Finish, show them a message box with the jira number/link so that they can verify the jira was actually made and go add more info or change fields if they want Once implemented I will definitely add info about this feature to the docs. -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA.
