I assume this fixed it.
with respect to why the version numbers were added I think that might be caused by Eclipse
3.4 PDE editor where I remember some notes about them now setting the versions to
encourage more diligence....would have been nice if they have just set it to the first two
digits or at least asked ! :)

The JBoss AS perspective does not appear in the perspective list, and the JBoss Server
view is not present.
No stack trace or other debug information from Eclipse log/plug-in registry. The strange
thing is that all the plug-ins seem to load, but these components are not present.
