Even on Windows 7 I was able to get Run As to break. Error log says
"Module bean-validation on JBoss 7.1 Runtime Server not ready to be shown in web
browser. Waiting..."
and then the server will not stop - has to be killed/terminated.
I imported bean-validation from the AS7.1 quickstarts - it is not really a web app.

Select any archetype or quickstart from JBoss Central and then Run As, Run On Server.
The application deploys but the internal browser fails to load. In addition, the server
process often refuses to stop. And when you terminate the server process, then the
various browser pops start to happen.
Attached are the jstack's for a previously stopped AS7.1, JBDS itself and a newly
started AS7.1
