the combo was not the big problem, the "New..." button was the problem - the
long list of connection drivers/profiles by DTP....but something must be fishy since I
cannot reproduce this issue anymore ;(

I get empty string for HSQL driver class name in ds.xml making deployment fail
only way I could make it work was when using the generic driver's where I explicitly
sets a driver classname.
