Okey so i'm closing this since this all seem to be about a special case that should
not happen (1000s upon 1000s of untracked files) in normal usage.
And the mention of a symbolic link lead us on a false goose chase; so summary is that if
you use eclipse on projects with thousands of untracked files egit will be slow.
EGit is very slow when importing of a big file structure with .git in
the grand-parent dir
