[JBoss JIRA] (TEIID-4489) Adjust defaults and use of 1 to 10 data sources to recommend the SMALL size
by Kylin Soong (JIRA)
Kylin Soong commented on TEIID-4489:
------------------------------------
We have down 3 changes to web app, this will be release in 2 or 3 days:
* add another question(Does the JBoss Data Virtualization run on a cloud platform?) if the answer is Yes, the smaller recommend size could be suggest, I have receive the mail, they think minimal 16 GB is too large, cause they try to run DV on OpenShift and don't need large TPS.
* Change the formula for a more precise Linear Regression Weight base on more test results.
* Change the #of data sources(How many data sources do you want to integrate?) editable, in previous the allowed value only selectable(1-10), but there are request to more than 10 data sources be integrated

> Based on recommendations:
> small : 16 cores, with at least 32 GB RAM. 2 DV instances. (small means may be 5 ~10 sources, rows into millions, YMMV)
> medium : 32 cores with 64 GB RAM, 4 DV instances. (medium means may be 10 ~ 20 sources, rows into multi-millions, YMMV)
> Large: custom
> The defaults in the sizing applications, along with selecting 1 to 10 data sources, should result in the SMALL recommendation. It should be clear to indicate the number of instances and the size recommendation per instance.

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIID-4667) Oracle translator - parseTime throws exception if string has extra trailing characters after standard time format

OK. Let's proceed with the patch. The issue is logged in JIRA. If someone needs this, we will add it into the next patch.

> TEIID-4656 was meant to prevent ORA-01830 (date format picture ends before converting entire input string). However, this has not been fully fixed for parseTime function. TO_TIMESTAMP is not pushed, but Teiid uses TO_CHAR which has similar behavior for strings with extra trailing characters.
> From my test:

[JBoss JIRA] (TEIID-4670) DB2 table with VARGRAPHIC column causes MetadataException TEIID60009 Unknown datatype null
by Lee Breisacher (JIRA)
Lee Breisacher created TEIID-4670:
-------------------------------------
Summary: DB2 table with VARGRAPHIC column causes MetadataException TEIID60009 Unknown datatype null
Key: TEIID-4670
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/TEIID-4670
Project: Teiid
Issue Type: Bug
Affects Versions: 9.0.5
Environment: teiid running on Windows connecting to DB2 database on z/OS.
Reporter: Lee Breisacher
Assignee: Steven Hawkins
I have a JDBC connection to a DB2 database which has a table with a column of type VARGRAPHIC (a double-byte character VARCHAR). When gathering metadata during Teiid initialization, I get this exception:
org.teiid.metadata.MetadataException: TEIID60009 Unknown datatype null

at org.teiid.metadata.MetadataFactory.addColumn(MetadataFactory.java:254)

at org.teiid.runtime.EmbeddedServer.deployVDB(EmbeddedServer.java:744)
at org.teiid.runtime.EmbeddedServer.deployVDB(EmbeddedServer.java:685)
It looks like Teiid does not handle columns of type VARGRAPHIC (as seen in org.teiid.core.types.JDBCSQLTypeInfo).

> I have installed a jBPM and looked it roughly, found that the jbpm workbench looks more beautiful, especially there is a DataSet panels, almost do the same work of what Our designer do, as [1], current, RDBMS. excel/csv file, Elastic Search be support to import and mapping in web UI.
> Also the UI more moderner than our Designer, I would attach some screenshot

-------------------------------------
what is the intent here? may be the tooling folks need to make aware of this, where they can possibly resuse the code or design?
