The select transformation is the view definition. Transformation was the metamatrix term
for the SQL underlying any virtual object.
Without a view definition the table record is not a view and cannot be materialized. It
sounds like you may be wanting to use alter view or another metadata loading mechanism to
bring your definition into the runtime. From there materialization will work as
expected.

I am trying to programatically create a materialized view from the MetadataFactory
object. I have created a table object using addTable() and then I call
setMaterialized(true). I see there are a couple of other related method names in Table
(setMaterializedStagedTable and setMaterializedTable). I assume those are when
materializing to an external database. What I am doing is incorrect, however.
When I try to issue a refresh CALL
SYSADMIN.refreshMatView(viewname=>'xyz_metadata.property',
invalidate=>false), I get the following exception:
