For years we've been following a set of rules to ensure a high degree of
backwards compatibility from release to release of Java EE. While many
of these rules should be obvious, we haven't written them down explicitly.
Until now.
Nigel Deakin, JMS spec lead, took the initiative to write these down for
the JMS expert group. Thanks, Nigel! These rules are applicable to all
of our specs. Hopefully you'll recognize these as consistent with what
we've been doing with the Java platform for the past 15 years.
