Sorry for the delay, I finally got to verification. I can reproduce this with 4.3.7 and as
well in 4.3.x branch.
EDIT: This can be reproduced with 4.5.x as well.
I added Metamer [page in
4.3.x|https://github.com/richfaces/richfaces-qa/blob/4.3.x/metamer/applic...]
(and
[4.5.x|https://github.com/richfaces/richfaces-qa/blob/4.5.x/metamer/applic...])
with this example.
The workaround (using {{render}} attribute) works so I have updated the issue with it.
[~rustock0] I agree that {{render}} is for different goals and status should be used
instead. Thanks for attached sample!

Status attribute for {{a4j:ajax}} does not work as expected.
I tried to create simple project with content:

It did not work for me. I do not see any log messages in the console.
As workaround I can use the {{render}} attribute instead of {{status}}, but we use it for
another goals, am I right?
