We noticed that since version 3.3.1.GA it is not working anymore, but this post (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1119321/richfaces-richcolumns-and-sorting) suggests that it is not working since 3.3.0.CR2 and we have verified that in 3.3.0.CR1 it was indeed working as expected.
