Steps to reproduce: 1. create backingBean, returning the SelectItem[]: .... list[0] = new SelectItem("hello "); return list; 2. use it on the page: <rich:comboBox value="bye" > (for some reasons if the 'value' is not appointed, everything works ok) <f:selectItems value="#{backingBean.selectItems}" /> </rich:comboBox> 3. result: the combobox is not expanded after clicking the "down" icon.
