No I don't think it's only a Firefox's fault (but It can interfere somehow).
The same here on Opera 9.24, Epiphany (ok, this one is Gecko-based). Only Konqueror works
quickly with modal Panel... This can be a regression, since it was working fine on all my
browsers something about 2 months ago... Guys, check these browsers too (Opera at
least)...
System: Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10, RF 3.1.2.

Probably we can explore why the perfomance is so bad just in our environments. The same
userforum post in under link.
Tested under simpliest livedemo example.
CPU isn't frozen under task manager while opening modal panel.
Panel drawn over 2-3 seconds and iframe appearance takes 1-2 seconds more.
