Confirmed on two machines of my teammates (RF 3.1.2, Fedora 6 and Fedora 7). When
rendering modal panel X server takes almost 100% of processor for 5+ seconds.
What could help here is a lightweight drawing mode (maybe this is the case of transparency
or shadow drawing, because Konqueror, which ignores transparent background drawing
performs quite good).
This component is unusable now. Too risky if you aim broad user group. Postponing this for
the 3.2 release is a great loss for functionality :(. Reschedule, please.

Probably we can explore why the perfomance is so bad just in our environments. The same
userforum post in under link.
Tested under simpliest livedemo example.
CPU isn't frozen under task manager while opening modal panel.
Panel drawn over 2-3 seconds and iframe appearance takes 1-2 seconds more.
