I don't think anyone cares if the html itself is an input element or select element just that the xhtml/jsp works exactly like selectOneMenu. Also, users entering text into the combobox should not be allowed to type something that is not in the list. (ie. it works EXACTLY like a selectOneMenu ;) ).
